The holiday season is a time of celebration and togetherness for many, but for some, it can be a challenging period. Recognizing this, the Kindness Crew made it their mission to spread joy and alleviate hardships during December. They dedicated themselves to giving back to local charities and ensuring that children in need would experience the magic of receiving brand-new gifts this holiday season.

Here are a few ways the Kindness Crew leveraged their platform to create moments of joy, hope, and happiness embodying the true spirit of the holidays by making a positive difference in the lives of those who needed it most.

Tara B. | Palm Harbor, FL

Tara’s dedication to spreading holiday cheer radiated throughout the community as she partnered with the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program to host Angel Trees in the Palm Harbor, Largo, and Sarasota locations. This program, known for its heartwarming mission, plays a pivotal role in ensuring that thousands of children nationwide experience the joy of Christmas each year. This is a great way to empower not only team members but also guests to partake in the fun and help put a smile on a child’s face this holiday season.

Tara’s kindness didn’t stop there. She extended her support to dedicated volunteers at Toys for Tots and Hero to a Child, recognizing their tireless efforts to make the holidays special for children in need. To express her appreciation, Tara donated warm Sonny’s meals to both organizations’ volunteers, ensuring that these selfless individuals received some well-deserved care in return.

Jessica S. | Jacksonville, FL

Jessica’s heartwarming initiative not only brought her team closer but also made a significant impact on their local community during the holiday season. Recognizing the importance of spreading goodwill and holiday cheer, she harnessed the spirit of togetherness during their team Christmas party.

Jessica encouraged each team member to contribute to their toy drive by bringing a toy to the party. This simple act of generosity transformed their gathering into a meaningful event, where joy was not just confined to the festivities but also extended to those in need. They were able to collect so many new toys they donated to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department to pass out to students and families that can’t afford Christmas gifts.

Tina B. | Nicholasville, KY

Tina’s compassion for children within the foster care system runs deep, rooted in her own experience as a foster mother in the past. Most foster care children, when transitioning from one foster home to another, resort to packing their belongings into a simple trash bag. Having witnessed this firsthand, Tina decided to start collecting items for the Cabinet for Family Services and Foster Care Program in Jessamine County, aiming to provide these children with dignity and comfort.

Every December for 10 years now, Tina has set up fun holiday events in the Nicholasville location to bring in more donations for the Foster Care System.  Families and kids can come to meet Santa, write letters to Santa, and drop off their donations. Together with the help of the Sonny’s community, Tina and her team were able to collect toys, coats, gloves, winter hats, duffle bags, backpacks or monetary donations for the organization. Her actions not only provide tangible support but also instill a sense of worth, warmth, and hope in the hearts of these kids facing hardship during this holiday season.

Michelle S. | Orlando, FL

Michelle, a newcomer to the Greater Orlando area, wasted no time in immersing herself in her new community and making a meaningful impact. She teamed up with multiple Sonny’s BBQ locations throughout Orlando to collect toys for Britt’s Bunch, a non-profit organization dedicated to extending a helping hand to children and families residing below the federal poverty threshold.

During every holiday season, Britt’s Bunch orchestrates a heartwarming initiative – a shop that opens its doors to kids and families confronting the challenges of economic hardships and health issues. This shop, filled with an array of toys, is stocked entirely through the generosity of the local community and businesses. Michelle and her team began their toy collection in November, ensuring they had enough time to gather an abundance of toys for the organization. She was so happy she was able to brighten the lives of those who needed it most.

Claudia H. | Apopka, FL

Claudia is passionate about helping kids and teamed up with Nathaniel’s Hope, an organization dedicated to celebrating kids with special needs, to host a toy drive at the Apopka location. The organization collects toys from all over the Greater Orlando area and creates a pop-up shop where families in need can bring their kids to pick out a few toys for Christmas.

With the help of her team and loyal Sonny’s guests, they were able to fill a whole box full of toys and goodies for the organization. Nathaniel’s Hope was so grateful for the donation and thanked Sonny’s for helping make a difference in these family’s lives.
