In a world full of chaos and uncertainty, being kind is more important than ever. At Sonny’s, we wholeheartedly believe in the profound impact that acts of kindness can have on the people around us. We understand that even the smallest gestures can create a powerful ripple effect, inspiring others to embrace kindness and pass it on. Here are a few of the heartfelt ways we’ve been spreadin’ kindness in our communities this year.

The Longest Day Fundraiser

On the summer solstice, an incredible display of community spirit unfolded in Greater Tampa as several Sonny’s locations joined forces to support the Alzheimer’s Association through “The Longest Day” fundraiser. This annual event aims to raise awareness and funds for the care, support, and research efforts dedicated to combating Alzheimer’s disease.

Five Sonny’s locations—Pinellas Park, Zephyrhills, Palm Harbor, New Port Richey, and Largo— pledged to donate 10% of their sales for the day to the cause. Through their collective efforts, these Sonny’s locations managed to raise an incredible $8,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Their decision to contribute a portion of their proceeds showcased their commitment to making a difference in the lives of those affected by Alzheimer’s.

Oksana R. Random Act of BBQ Surprise

As a part of Nurse Appreciation Week, the team at Pensacola surprised Oksana R., a nurse at Baptist Hospital, with a Random Act of BBQ for her unwavering compassion and dedication to helping her patients. Oksana is a full-time Operating Room (OR) nurse at Baptist Hospital that has assisted in over 1,000 surgeries. When she isn’t working at Baptist, she also works part-time at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital helping with pediatric surgeries. She worked tirelessly during the pandemic and continues to put her heart and soul into caring for each and every one of her patients. It was an honor to recognize her for the impact she’s made on so many lives.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

The Make-A-Wish Foundation reached out to the Pensacola location asking for help in granting a wish for Teresa, a terminally ill patient that wished to have a big Sweet 17 birthday party. The team knew they had an extraordinary opportunity to make a lasting impact and immediately embraced the chance to bring joy and happiness to this courageous young girl. The Sonny’s team hosted the party at the Pensacola restaurant with over 50 of her friends and family. They decorated the restaurant, served food and drinks, set up a karaoke machine, and surprised her with a birthday cake. It was such a fun and heartwarming experience for the team to be a part of such a special day for Teresa and her family. We’re so glad they were able to make her dream a reality.

Marcia R. Random Act of BBQ Surprise

The team at the Mobile location honored Marcia R., a labor and delivery nurse, for her remarkable dedication to her patients. Marcia serves at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL, where she consistently goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care for her patients during challenging times. Her selflessness extends far beyond the hospital walls, as she readily offers support and guidance to her patients even outside of working hours, answering their calls with unwavering compassion. Notably, Marcia has also provided solace to grieving couples who have experienced the loss of a baby, arranging special services with grief counselors to help them navigate through their sorrow. The Mobile team was thrilled to surprise Marcia, acknowledging her incredible commitment to her patients and the profound impact she has on their lives.
