Sonny’s BBQ Gives Back to the Salvation Army
Sonny’s BBQ of Sarasota and Venice participated in a Random Acts of BBQ for the guests and volunteers of the Salvation Army. We wanted to give the volunteers an afternoon off from cooking lunch for the guests, as well as give the guests a BBQ feast that would make their holiday a little brighter. We had no idea the amount of work and dedication that goes into making this particular organization work. We came to throw a RABBQ for the guests but we quickly realized that all of the volunteers deserve the recognition as well. While we were serving the guests, the volunteers were eagerly prepping the evening’s food, unloading trucks and stocking shelves. There was not a dull moment watching them work, and work with such a positive attitude.
The Salvation Army provides food, clothing and shelter to those transitioning out of incarceration, the homeless or those just trying to start a new life. They run primarily on donations and this particular facility provides – on average – 200,000 meals a year. All of the food donated by local businesses is prepared primarily by volunteers. Their hard work deserves so much recognition!
