Women Helping Women & Sonny’s BBQ

Harbor House of Central Florida is a women’s shelter who works to prevent and eliminate domestic abuse in Central Florida by providing critical life-saving services to survivors.

The heroes. Katerina and Nubiana had a vision to empower and inspire. The two rallied up a group of 12 local bloggers to extend a helping hand to the women who need it near them. The idea stemmed from their desire to give back to the women in their community in honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. Thus, the Women Helping Women initiative was born.

A force to be reckoned with. Katerina and Nubiana partnered up with a beneficiary, Harbor House of Central Florida, to shine a spotlight on their mission and raise awareness throughout their community of women in need and the ongoing issue of domestic abuse. Katerina and Nubiana organized an event, comprised of two parts. The first, being an initial meet-up for the local bloggers to mingle and bring in donations from a donation list provided by Harbor House. Upon delivering the donated items to Harbor House, a date was set for the second part of their giving back initiative – a dinner for all the women and children of Harbor House with food donated by Sonny’s BBQ.

A big family meal. Katerina, Nubiana, and their team of bloggers brought in a special dinner provided by Sonny’s BBQ. It was an evening where the 60-70 women and children at Harbor House were able to come together, have some fun, and enjoy great food. The representative at Harbor House, Darlene, explained that dinners are a treat at Harbor House because they aren’t brought in too often. The families are always grateful and excited for them, and this meal did not disappoint.

We are honored to have been given the opportunity to donate the food and drinks for their cause, Women Helping Women. We commend Katerina and Nubiana for their efforts to make a huge impact on their community.
