Sonny’s Teams Up with First Responders Children’s Foundation to Support Our Front Line Heroes

At Sonny’s, we know the importance of acknowledging the hard work first responders do, and we’ve teamed up with the First Responders Children’s Foundation to shine a spotlight on the sacrifices front line workers make for us every day.

First Responders Children’s Foundation helps support children and families of first responders who have lost their lives or been injured in the line of duty. The foundation was formed 20 years ago to help the 800 children who lost a first responder parent on Sept. 11, 2001, and the organization has been making an impact on families’ lives ever since.

FRCF’s mission is to provide support to children who have lost a parent in the line of duty, as well as families struggling with financial hardships. The Foundation also promotes educational activities created by other first responder organizations whose purpose is to benefit children and the community. Their areas of impact include scholarships, grants, funeral expenses, mental health, and economic assistance.

First Responders Children’s Foundation also provides fun and inspiring events for children of first responders during the Holiday season. On National First Responder Day, the foundation hosts a special tribute event, presenting Hero Awards to one member of each first responder category: police officer, firefighter, paramedic/EMT, nurse and medical personnel. Each Thanksgiving Day, the FRCF invites children and relatives of fallen heroes for breakfast and front row viewing of the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, and for the Christmas holiday, FRCF’s Toy Express program delivers free toys to first responder agencies and hospitals, which then distribute them to children of first responders.

There are so many ways this incredible foundation helps the children and families of first responders and with your extra help, the possibilities are endless.
