Sonny's Real Pit Bar-B-Q Raises Over $30,000 to Save Babies
January 16, 2009, Maitland, FL - Sonny's Bar-B-Q restaurants across the Southeast, raised over $33,000 during its six week Baby Backs for Babies promotion. Baby Backs for Babies was an inaugural system-wide fundraiser whereby a portion of the proceeds for every baby back plate sold benefitted the March of Dimes in honor of the restaurant chain's 40th anniversary.
"March of Dimes is extremely grateful for the support and enthusiasm of Sonny's Real Pit Barb-B-Q. Their promotion during Prematurity Awareness Month in November 2008 helped us raise vitally important funds to further our mission in local communities. They are a true partner in the efforts to give all babies a healthy start," added Paula Howell, March of Dimes regional vice president.
"Sonny's and March of Dimes have had an excellent partnership over the past three years locally; we chose to expand the partnership across our chain. We are excited to have surpassed our fundraising goal with the vast majority of our franchisees joining the initiative," said Bob Yarmuth, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sonny's Franchise Company.
Sonny's has partnered with the March of Dimes in many markets and on various community initiatives including participating in the March for Babies, Signature Chefs, Mud Volleyball and more.
